Frequently asked Questions

What are Additives?

Additives are substances which are added to polymers in order to improve one or more properties. Additives are often powder or fiber like materials (fillers) and plasticising agents.

What are Carbon Nanofibres?

Nanofibers are of larger dimensions than nanotubes; however, there are no exactly defined size categories of these nanomaterials. Carbon nanofibers are applied in the same fields as nanotubes. Diameters are between 80 and 200nm.

What are Carbon Nano-Tubes?

Carbon Nano-Tubes are Tiny tubes made up of cylindrical graphite with diameters of one nanometer (single-wall nanotube) up to several 50 nm (multi-wall nanotube). For comparison, a human hair is about 10,000 times thicker.

What are Masterbatches?

Masterbatches are plastic, rubber or elastomer mixtures in which there is a high additives concentration, such as rubber with carbon black, or plastic with color pigment; used to proportion additives accurately into large bulks of plastic, rubber, or elastomer.

Was does Nano mean?

Nano (Greek nânos, nánnos dwarf) The word is a combining form with the meaning “very small, minute”. One nanometer is equivalent to 10-9 meters, or 0.000000001 (one-billionth) meters. Atoms are about 0.1 to 0.5 nanometers in size. Nanometer dimensions are not visible to the naked eye.

What does Polymer mean?

(Greek poly many, meros parts) A chemical compound of high molecular weight consisting of chain like molecules.
